Benefits of water-based inks

For a more sustainable future

# Co2mmitted

Lower CO2 footprint

Water-based inks are the most sustainable alternative: they reduce the carbon footprint and the environmental impact.

The carbon footprint of water-based inks is 30-40% lower than that of solvent-based inks.

#Quality

Excellent print quality

Today, the print quality of prints made with water-based inks can match those printed with solvent-based inks.

This is the result of a combination of improved resin technology, formulation knowledge, innovations in machine design and printing process.

This has been transmitted to us by clients who used solvent-based inks; When they have learned to use water-based inks they would not go back!

  • Greater ink stability:
The use of solvent-based inks requires the addition of solvents during printing. The water-based ink maintains its stable viscosity during print runs. The performance of water-based inks is 20% to 30% higher than solvent-based inks.
  • Longer life of printing plates:
By using water-based inks, there is no solvent warping of the printing plates, consequently you can use your plates for longer while printing with higher quality.

#Security

Low VOC (volatile organic compounds)

Since water-based inks do not contain harmful chemicals, they are not only safe for the environment, but also for users. There are no harsh chemicals or solvents that the user can breathe in and clean with water.

Also, it is much easier to comply with increasingly stringent European and global regulations on emissions of volatile organic compounds.

The reduction in VOC emission can be as high as 95 %.

#Económic

Cost reduction

  • Reduction of the emission of pollutants:
Investment in incinerators is not necessary.
  • Risk reduction:
Solvent-based ink is flammable and therefore more susceptible to fires and explosions, so insurance costs and security measures are lower for water-based inks.

Because the term sustainable not only refers to our affection for the planet, but to our actions on it.
Because a paradigm shift can come out of obligation or conviction, but sometimes both conditions occur at the same time.
The world is moving towards a circular economy model.
